Daniel Blank ...
Daniel Blank, a freshman at Stamford High wrote, "So far, CPEP has been a very rewarding experience for me. I would like to join mainly based on my previous experience with the group. I have always had fun while learning and building in CPEP and the gratification I receive makes it worthwhile. CPEP allows me to better understand fields I am seriously considering for a career. In addition, ideas learned in CPEP have helped me throughout my years of math and science. It is one of the best clubs at school and it has always been a lot of fun."
Nitesh Banta ...
Another freshman, Nitesh Banta, from Stamford High stated, "I would like to join CPEP as I have done in the past two years. CPEP has provided me with a place to unleash my creative side. I enjoy working on projects in an environment that's fun, loose and allows a person to think. Throughout middle school I enjoyed taking part in the projects and discovering with my peers tricks of the trade to assemble these projects. As a result I got a head start in most of my science classes, whenever projects were assigned I was always familiar with some aspect of it. As a result CPEP helped me further succeed and excel in my English class. This year I hope to further develop my ideas of engineering and find different ways to improve the previous years' designs. As a veteran of CPEP I will be able to help new students understand how the different projects work and make this CPEP year better than ever".
Shawn Thompson ...
Shawn Thompson, a 7th grader from North End Middle school in Waterbury wrote, "I like CPEP because I like science and math and I like working with my hands. The cool thing about CPEP is that you do different and fun projects and plus you learn a lot about science and math without doing tests, quizzes and long hours of homework.
I would recommend CPEP to anybody that is interested in science and math. I like meeting new people and exploring new things. It occupies my time to do something productive and active. I love working with people with different ideas than me. CPEP teaches you things while having fun and they are really nice and caring. They don't rush you like regular teachers do. If you join CPEP (guaranteed!) you will have the time of your life!"

Nick Schaefer ...
A 7th grader from Roton Middle School in Norwalk, Nick Schaefer, wrote "I am excited about the CPEP program because I think it will allow me to meet other people with similar interests, and with whom I could share ideas. I enjoy designing and building stuff and am fascinated by what makes things work. Unfortunately in the normal classroom environment, the subjects of design and engineering are rarely ever mentioned or taught. I think that this is where CPEP can help enrich my education and allow me to explore these areas."
Johan Diaz ...
Johan Diaz an 8th grader from Chippens Middle school in Bristol stated, "I want to join because I am very interested in science and why things happen the way they do, and how they come about. I find studying science to be like an adventure. Also, I feel learning a lot about science will help me in my adult life and future"
Edna Chukwurah ...
Edna Chukwurah a 6th grader from Multicultural Magnet in Bridgeport wrote, "I would like to participate in the CPEP program because it represents a great opportunity to learn about science, math and engineering. I love math and science, so I would welcome new opportunities to learn more. Another reason why I would like to be involved in CPEP is that I have the example of my two eldest sisters. They went through the program, learned a whole lot and had fun besides. They benefited a great deal, learning how to make things, break things up and put things back together."

Erica Whitchurch ...
A 6th grader, Erica Whitchurch from Bennie Dover Middle school in New London wrote, "I have always wondered how things that are so heavy float or fly. I have asked family members and teachers and they have told me that it is too hard to explain and now there is CPEP and I think that CPEP can teach me these things."
Richard Cureio ...
Another Bennie Dover 6th grader, Richard Cureio, wrote that he has a "big interest in science and a little bit of interest in math. I like making model rockets and airplanes. I think I should join CPEP because I have heard a lot of neat things about it and have wanted to join since last year when friends told me about it...I also heard that in CPEP they go on a lot of cool field trips like going to Lake Compounce, CPEP Day and the Boston Science Museum all of which I have never been to. "
Livia Brown ...
A 7th grader at East Hartford Middle, Livia Brown wrote, "I would love to join the CPEP program because of the experiments such as the solar car event and the bridge event. I would have something to do with my time after school and maybe in the summer also. If you pay for us to be in the program, you wouldn't be wasting your money on me because I am interested and you and all of the students there will enjoy having me, I am a real 'happiness' booster."

Jose Perez ...
Jose Perez, 6th grader at Cloonan Middle wrote: "In my spare time I dismantle things or read a book. I like dismantling objects because I am extremely curious about the objects inside and how it is made. I like to build machinery like little control cars, robots and airplane models. In CPEP I will get to do that. Also because I will get to learn about airplanes, roller coasters and much more. If I know enough, then when I grow up I could invent a machine or piece of equipment that could save someone's life some day."
Erica Eng ...
A 7th grader from Dolan, Erica Eng said, "I would like to join CPEP because building such projects might make me become a better student, learner and for me to feel better about myself. When I build the structures, it will give me some freedom in which to make designs to spread some artistry in this form of learning. When building, I believe I will learn more in the math, science engineering and technology fields of study."
Monica Sharma ...
A 7th grader from East Hartford Middle, Monica Sharma, wrote, "When I think of
CPEP, I think of hands-on activities. I like to solve problems so when the pre-engineering program comes to my mind, I think of fixing cars and making inventions. On rainy days I would always make up crazy inventions with everyday things. CPEP seems like a great program for me to join. I could learn more and bring up my grades."

Nephtali Collazo ...
Nephtali Collazo an 8th grader at South Middle school in Hartford said he "loves learning about science, math and computers. I hope to go to college and learn more about these classes. I heard a lot of good things about this program. I heard it involves math, science and computers and when I heard that, I really got interested. I heard that we get to do stuff like making a roller-coaster. I am really looking forward to becoming a member of this wonderful program and will tell my friends about it. I also hope to have good experiences in technology and meet real scientists."
Amel Duric ...
Amel Duric also an 8th grader at South Middle wrote, "I come from Bosnia and I have lived here one year and three months. I learn English very fast and in my future I want to be a doctor. My family would like me to finish college and I am going to do this because my family is always right. They know what is the best thing for me. They have always been right in the past. I want to be in CPEP because I like to learn about new things.I saw students from last year and they had fun. I want to be like them."
Jose Melendez Jr. ...
Jose Melendez Jr. an 8th grader at South Middle stated, "I am an outstanding student and I believe a student with my knowledge and my desire to learn should participate in a program that will teach me lots. I am a hard working student, dedicated student and I am committed to the ideals of a good education. I like to stand out and be noticed and be different from
others.I will share my knowledge with the world. I shall teach others what wonderful things you've taught me. I will teach family and friends not just what I learned but also my experiences in CPEP."

David Shih ...
David Shih, a 7th grade Broadview student in Danbury wrote, "There are many different reasons why I would like to join CPEP. I like to build things, test them out, and see what they do. For example: I got one of those airplane kits where you have to build airplane models and then you can fly them. However, I made some variations to it to see how well it would fly with the new variations added to it. When I saw my results I liked them because the plane did some flips and turned a couple of times before it landed. My second reason is because I want to know more on engineering and certain parts of science. I would like to know more about engineering because in the future I would like to be an engineer in the military. The last reason for wanting to join is because I think it will be a very fun and enjoyable program where I can learn things I wouldn't learn until later on. I saw some of those models and things that the students from the past years made and also from what some people said about CPEP."
These are the voices of our next generation of engineers, mathematicians, scientists, entrepreneurs. These students are expressing their dreams, hopes and belief that the CPEP program can help them open the doors to their future and help them realize their aspirations.
